The National Training Institute was started in 1990, then known as the “Instructor Training Institute,” to professionally train educators instructing IBEW Apprentices and Journeymen. Since then, the Instructor Training Institute has evolved into the NTI of today, offering World Class Training for Instructors, Apprentices, Journey-Level Workers, JATC Committee Members, Training Directors, and Local Union and Chapter Officers.
I Group classes make up the instructor training program taught by Professional Educators from colleges and universities across the country. These Professional Education classes are offered at four levels, or years. If an instructor has taken all four years of the Instructor Training Program and would like to continue training in the I Group, NTI offers a three-year Advanced Studies Professional Education program.
Participants who will be taking only technical training courses will be in the T Group. Technical courses are taught by manufacturers and their representatives, and cover the theory and knowledge of the topic being taught. This will help instructors in the classroom with knowledge of a topic, but will not provide teaching skills or tips.
The C Group consists of JATC Committee Members, Local Union and Chapter Officers, and Training Directors. A combination of general presentations and small group breakout sessions will allow the participant to choose their own areas of interest. The SC Group is an abbreviated form of C Group designed for participants who cannot attend the entire week of NTI.
Individuals involved in the outside line construction or utility industries, and anyone interested in these industries should register for O Group. This program guarantees participants a better understanding of the opportunities available in the outside industry and what the electrical training ALLIANCE is doing to help prepare the workforce to meet the growing demands of this sector.
The OA Group is a program designed for outstanding apprentice graduates. These individuals will be recognized individually during the Opening Ceremony of NTI, and will each be presented with an Outstanding Achievement Certificate, as well as gifts from electrical training ALLIANCE Platinum Award winning Training Partners.
Installer/Technician Group has been developed specifically for those associated with the Installer/Technician industry. The program presentations will focus on topics that individuals working in this sector of the electrical industry will find of interest. The Installer/Technician Group is for anyone interested in today’s Installer/Technician Industry.
