Tyler Andrews

Tyler is a leader and influencer about Intelligent Buildings and Power Over Ethernet. He started his career in design and construction at ExxonMobil’s upstream mega project division ($1B and above) managing oil and gas construction in Korea and Canada. He moved to iFLY as a project manager where he rose to become the Vice President of Construction overseeing the construction of more than forty indoor skydiving entertainment venues worldwide in three years. Most recently he took the reins of PoE Texas in 2016 with a strategic focus to make technology accessible to facility owners with his unique mix of technical expertise, construction experience, and project management knowledge. Tyler speaks and trains about his project management experience and the importance of Power Over Ethernet in the new Intelligent Building.

Derrick Atkins

Derrick Atkins began his career in the electrical industry in the Minneapolis electrical apprenticeship program from 1996 to 2000 and is now currently working as the Training Director for the Minneapolis Electrical JATC. He has served on Code Making Panel 5 for the 2017, 2020, 2023, and 2026 cycle of the NEC and additionally serving on the Correlating Committee for the 2023 and 2026 NEC cycle. He has been the subject matter expert for the Code Calculation textbook and curriculum for 2017 and 2020 cycles and the Grounding and Bonding textbook and curriculum for the 2023 cycle.

Jim Begley

Jim is the Construction Manager for Harlan Electric’s Mid-Atlantic District. Jim has held multiple leadership positions with Harlan over His 17 Year tenure. Jim brings over 23 years of Outside Electrical Construction experience to Harlan. Jim joined Harlan Electric as an IBEW journeyman, holding roles of increasing responsibility in his tenure ranging from lineman to his current management position. With his passion for using proactive construction management and human performance principles field leaders and projects are set up for long term success.

Ben Bradbury

Ben Bradbury started working at Lincoln Electric in 2012 in the consumable R&D lab. At that time he welded most every process and was the lead welder for that department. He welded for R&D until March of 2017 when he was selected by the Lincoln Electric Weld School for an instructor position. He has since been teaching primarily API and ASME pipe classes. In 2020 he began a new role in the Technical Training Department as a Customer Training Instructor and works primarily supporting the skilled trades nationally. In 2018 he became an AWS/CWI/CWE.

Merton Bunker

Merton Bunker has 39 years of engineering experience, including seven years at the National Fire Protection Association as staff liaison to the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72). He is active in codes and standards development and is the Chair of the Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property Correlating Committee (NFPA 72).  Merton previously served on the National Electrical Code Correlating Committee, the Technical Committee on Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, Technical Committee on Air Conditioning Systems, chaired the NFPA Technical Committee on Protected Premises Signaling Systems, and chaired the Technical Committee on Electrical Systems Maintenance (NFPA 73). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering Management. Merton is a licensed professional engineer, is a certified fire and explosion investigator, a certified fire inspector, and a certified master electrical inspector.  Merton is the president of Merton Bunker & Associates in Stafford, Virginia and is still active as an inspector with the Stafford County Fire department.

Thomas Collins

Thomas Collins (Tom) is a retired full professor of the Telecommunication Technology Program at Gateway Community and Technical College and was the Department Chair for the Voice and Data Technology Program. Tom has 40 years of experience in Voice and Data / Electrical Technology instruction and forty-four years of experience in industry. In addition, he created / designed programs for over 30 national / international company /organization(s). He is a 20-year Fiber Optic Association Board of Director’s Member. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati and is a retired Local 212 Journeyman Electrician and JATC instructor. He is a graduate of the NJATC NTI program and has been offering the Fiber Optic Association Technician certification program at NTI for over 20 years.

James Dewig

Mr. Dewig completed his IBEW/NECA Electrical Apprenticeship in Evansville, IN in 1978. After completion of apprenticeship, he continued his education in electrical engineering and education. He has multi-state Electrical Master’s and Contractor’s licenses. I.B.E.W. member since 1975.

From 1991 to 2014, Jim worked as a senior electrical designer for an ENR Top 500 Design Firm, PCI Skanska. As Electrical Power Best Practice Leader, he had responsibility for electrical distribution design, testing, inspection, power studies, code compliance, power quality, electrical safety training, and field services.

Mr. Dewig has instructed Journeyman and apprenticeship training classes since 1981 for the Evansville JATC and Technical courses at NTI for the electrical training Alliance since 2007. Jim has been a NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional since 2014. He obtained certificates in electrical power systems design, motors, grounding, electrical safety, NEC, power quality, SCADA, power monitoring, and over current protection devices.

In 2014 to 2016, Jim was a manufactures sales representative for Eaton Cooper Power Systems and was responsible for product application, customer presentation, and sales of medium voltage products in Indiana and Kentucky.

Jim joined the electrical training Alliance in 2016 and retired as an Assistant Director in 2022.

John Engle

John started his apprenticeship in 1992 with the Columbus Electrical JATC, Local 683 Columbus Ohio. Upon completing his apprenticeship, he immediately joined the instructional staff. John became a full-time instructor with the Electrical Trades Center (CEJATC) in 2023. His area of focus is electric theory, blueprints and industrial motor control. As a Journeyman Wireman, John served in positions from union steward to general foreman.

Oleg Fishel

As a product manager in test and measurement for the last 20 years, Oleg has worked with every part of the communications technology chain from physical layer copper to fiber to cellular connectivity. He has helped to launch a large variety of products in markets around the globe. Oleg’s experience ranges from mechanical hand tools to simple electrical instruments to signal generators all the way to cellular protocol analyzers. In this time, he has grown a great appreciation for the people doing the hard work of building internet infrastructure and wants to help them work effectively and safely in any way he can.

Robert Hattier

Robert Hattier is the Director of Renewable Energy for IBEW Local 134. He also serves as the Executive Director for the Illinois IBEW Renewable Energy Fund, a State of Illinois grant funded Workforce Development Organization authorized under the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA). Bob has over 20 years of experience in the solar energy and adjacent technology industries. Since 2008, Bob has been teaching courses on Solar, Energy Storage, and Electric Vehicle Charging Systems throughout the Midwest. Bob holds several industry specific credentials and licenses.  Bob’s dedication to advancing the renewable energy industry can be seen in his involvement with several organizations as a Board Member, his codes and standards development committee appointments, and his allied professional training initiatives.

Joe Herbst

Kevin Johnson

Theresa Johnson

Theresa Johnson started in telecommunications in the IBEW in 1999. Theresa’s business manager, Sam Chilia and President Hill knew that communications were essential and must be part of the IBEW. From the start she has been involved with education and service. She is currently developing the limited energy curriculum for Local 354’s Training center in Utah.

Dan Klingman

Dan Klingman began his career at Lincoln Electric in 1994. Since that time, he has worked as a production welder, robotic operator, application engineering technician, and robotic applications technologist. Since 2004 he has been working in the technical training department focusing on the skilled trades and welding education. In addition, he continues to train in advanced technology, and advanced motorsports training programs. In 2020 Dan became the Manager, Educational Programming and is responsible for managing the Lincoln Electric LEEPS/NC3 welding certification program globally and the skilled trades program nationally. Dan is also an active member of the National Skills USA welding committee and has been a trackside welder at the Indianapolis 500 since 2006. Dan earned his AWS CWI/CWE in 2012.

Glen Mazur

Glen A. Mazur is an instructor, textbook author, consultant, engineer, and seminar presenter with over 40 years of experience in the electrical field. He has written over 50 books in the electrical field and has presented hands-on training seminars for many large companies and governmental agencies. Glen has been teaching seminars at IBEW training centers and NTI for over 20 years.

Jason McCarty

Jason McCarty is a journeyman inside wireman and a member of IBEW Local 48 in Portland, Oregon. Jason is a third-generation electrician who began his career as a material handler and laborer and then went on to complete the five-year electrical apprenticeship program to become a journeyman in both Oregon and Washington.

Jason has worked on and led a variety of construction projects including hospitals, schools, industrial plants, data centers, high-tech manufacturing facilities, commercial and residential high-rises, retail establishments and other facilities.

In 2003, Jason began working on government contracted projects overseas. Over a 13-year period, he worked in a total of 22 countries on 5 continents. The diverse nature of this work gave Jason opportunities to experience a wide variety of leadership strategies used to manage projects. These valuable experiences reinforced his passion for leadership and project management skill development.

Jason currently works for one of the largest electrical contractors in the country developing and delivering presentations focused on the development of field leaders. These trainings cover a wide range of topics such as planning, detailing, project execution, effective communication, construction technology, and people skills.

Paul Meyers

Paul is a graduate of the Inside Wireman program at the Electrical Training Institute (ETI). He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology and a master’s degree in education from the Purdue College of Education. At the ETI, Paul splits his duties as a classroom instructor and learning management administrator/curriculum manager.

Tim Miller is a video specialist that produces educational and training videos for ATP. Barry Moreland

Barry Moreland CSP, CESCP, is an authorized OSHA 10/30 Outreach Trainer for both the construction and general industry work environments.  He has been employed as the Safety Director for the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center for the last 20 years. His job duties include safety training of apprentice and Journey level workers employed with IBEW Local 48 and the Oregon – Columbia National Electrical Contractor Association, as well as performing workplace safety audits and chairing the NECA-IBEW Joint Safety Committee.

Pete Newell

Pete is a member of Local 1141 out of Oklahoma City.  Pete started his apprenticeship in May of 2003, finishing it as Outstanding Apprentice in 2008.  He went on to get my Electrical Engineering degree from Oklahoma State University in 2019.  He started teaching in 2008 and has taught all five years of apprenticeship material but truly enjoy the engagement while teaching electrical theory the most.  Pete is currently employed as a Senior Protection Software Engineer with Doble Engineering.

Bernie Razawich

Bernie became an IBEW member in 1977 and graduated NEAT in 1982 as a Journeyman Lineman. Joshua Salts

Joshua started his career as an IBEW member in 2001 as an Inside Wireman Apprentice out of Local 538 Danville, IL. Joshua started doing outside line construction in 2006 out Local 1393 where he became a Journeyman Lineman after completing the ALBAT apprenticeship. In 2012, he joined the ALBAT apprenticeship as an Area Coordinator over Indiana and Illinois. Over the past year, he has moved into the Training Management role with the organization.

James Stark

Mr. Stark started his career in the Electrical industry in 2003 as an IBEW apprentice at the Electrical Training Institute of San Diego and Imperial Counties. The knowledge and skills he gained as a result of his education at ETI and on-the-job training were honed over his 5-year apprenticeship. In 2008, he graduated from the apprenticeship program and accepted an offer from ETI to teach the third-year second semester apprenticeship course, as well as journeyman classes including EVITP, CALCTP, and CALCTP-AT. His commitment and passion for teaching and to his student’s education was evident through his instructor reviews. Mr. Stark considers himself a “lifelong learner” who enjoyed teaching on the job as a Journeyman Wireman, being a foreman in the field, and was the lighting controls expert for one of the largest contractors in San Diego. Mr. Stark graduated from the National Training Institute four-year instructor training program in 2017 and started the NTI advanced instructor course in 2018. Mr. Stark taught at ETI until September of 2017 when he accepted the Assistant Training Director position. Mr. Stark and Kevin Johnson (the training director for ETI) have enjoyed co-teaching the EVITP course at NTI since 2019.

Parrish Taylor

Parrish Owen Taylor is a 30-year veteran in adult learning and workforce development with client relations in the US & Canada. In 1993, he founded Taylor-Made Concepts, LLC and has since served clients in the public and private sector. Industry experience includes Law Enforcement, Oil & Gas, Electric Utility and Sports & Athletics.

Focused on the field and best practices within human performance and organizational development, his passion is the application of emotional intelligence skills – most beneficial for personal performance, leadership influence and high-performance teams.

His book and course, Tactical EQ4 Human Performance have been adapted for both Law Enforcement Training and The Electric Utility Industry.

Parrish was born in Indiana and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1988. A practicing man of faith, Parrish raised his four adult children in Louisiana until late 2021 when relocated to the panhandle of Florida.

Steve Thompson

Steve Thompson is the Lead Instructor at the Southwest Washington Electrical JATC. Steve has been instructing for 10 years and has been focused on developing Field Application Based Training in the electrical apprenticeship. Throughout the years he has worked on increasing the amount of physical training that can be done in the classroom, this includes transitioning courses such as Codeology and DC Theory into circuit troubleshooting and wall rough in layout. As a graduate of the JATC he had the benefit of being able to understand how the coursework provided to the apprentice can be used to make them a better field electrician with proper instruction.

Trevor Turek

Trevor Turek is the Assistant Training Director for the Minneapolis Electrical JATC and has over 15 years of experience in the electrical industry. He holds an AAS Degree in Electrical Construction from Dunwoody College of Technology and is a Minneapolis Electrical JATC Apprenticeship Program graduate. Trevor serves as the Vice Chair of the Minnesota State Board of Electricity. He is a member of eight UL technical committees and serves on the labor side of the IBEW 292 / MPLS NECA Joint Safety Committee.

Julie Welch

Julie Welch is an engineer and technical editor for American Technical Publishers. She has worked closely with the electrical training ALLIANCE on developing several textbooks and other training materials for the inside curriculum. Julie has been assisting Glen during his NTI Test Instruments seminar for 20 years.

Francis Whiston

Francis has been working in the electrical field for 20 years, with 7 years instructing at the ETA in Silicon Valley California. Francis is a LU 332 wireman and has 4 children. He has taught 4th year and 5th year classes but is currently specializing in his Journeyman classes which include Instrumentation, Motor Controls, and Test instruments. Francis likes to relax playing poker and going ice skating with my children.

Will White

Will began working in solar in 2005 for a small integrator. After starting as an installer, he worked in sales, design, and project management, and he eventually became the Director of Operations.  In 2016, he joined the curriculum team at Solar Energy International (SEI), where he focused on updating and developing course content and teaching classes in-person and online. In 2022, Will moved into a solar application specialist role at Fluke, where he supports their renewable energy testing equipment like IV-curve tracers, electrical meters, and thermal imaging cameras.

Will has experience in wind power, solar thermal, energy storage, and all scales of PV, although he has primarily focused on residential and small commercial systems.  He is passionate about implementing high-quality, code-compliant installation techniques.  Will has been a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional since 2006 and was previously a NABCEP Certified Solar Heating Installer. He has a B.A. in business management from Columbia College Chicago and is about halfway through an MBA from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. In his free time, he can be found working with his wife and daughter on their homestead in central Vermont, which features an off-grid straw-bale house.
